Already familiar with NAD having reviewed the C 326BEE a decade earlier, Seydor doesn’t hesitate to test the C 328 with some challenging pieces of music such as Beethoven’s “Waldstein.”. Using a Richard Goode recording of one of Beethoven’s most notable sonatas, Seydor says the C 328 effortlessly reproduced the track’s dynamics
May 30, 2021. #14. i own a NAD 388 with the blusound chip, haven't been able to tell the difference over time. Unless you have superman hearing, i would suggest don't bother. Changes in room treatment, speakers , tow in etc will make way more difference than the amp break in IMO.

No reviews yet on the C 298 but it seems like it will have much of the improved tech of the M33 without the $5k price point. I have also considered several other options for stereo including integrated amp/streamer combos. Naim XS3 was on my shortlist for amps, as were all-in-one options such as the NAD C388 with BluOS MDC, and the Arcam SA30. A $200-$400 DAC and a $800-$1200 amp should set you up nicely and the amp will last for a long time if and when you outgrow the DAC. You can get much better "measured well" choices this way. The choices within integrated will be much more limited compromising on the pre-amp or the power-amp or both.

The NAD C658 is a preamplifier in the price range just below the point where hi-fi really beomes painful. It looks like a classic NAD: a gray-black box without any decoration. The humble look is likely to please true NAD fanatics, while others will see it as decidedly unsexy. I’ve owned both the the NAD 388 and the Halo Int (original). The NAD had a overall neutral, albeit slightly "cold" sound to it. There was a touch of grain to its treble to my ears as well. The Halo Int in all honesty was superior in almost every respect. I’ve since gone all tubes, but the Int was a fine integrated and could’ve lived with it. 3Ew7u.
